Varahanatha Swami Temple, Kallahalli, K.R.Pete

The Pralaya Varaha is 15 feet tall and Bhoo Devi is 3.5 feet and is seated in his left thigh. Bhoovaraha or the third avatar where the Lord appeared as a boar to rescue Mother Earth from the demon Hiranyaksha. According to history, the image in this temple was installed by sage Gautama over 2,000 years ago and is under the management of the Parakal Math. The image has Lord Bhoovaraha with Bhoomidevi seated on his left leg. The conch and discus in the deity's hands are quite different in design from sculptures in other temples. The moolamoorthi is Salagrama Shila and the moorthi has Sudarshana Chakra on the back.

Kshanambika Temple
I had been to this place with my family friends. We left bangalore at 6.30am it was little cold due to rains on the previous night. On the way, in Bidadi we had great breakfast like bidadi is famous for bidadi thatte idli. We reached Srirangapatna at 10:30 there we went to temples at entrance of the famous Srirangapatna town, they where the oldest temples, the Moodalabagilu Anjaneya Temple & next to it is the Kshanambika Temple. The temple was a bit crowded as it was Shravana Shanivara(an auspicious day in hindu calender).

From there we reached Sri Ranganatha Swamy temple. It was also crowded with devotees, after seeking blessings from the Sri Ranganatha Swamy when we came outside the devotees where distributing the prasadam. After having the prasadam we asked for the Pandavapura route. After reaching Pandavapura after a little bit of enquiry we reached Pralaya Varahanatha Temple, Kallahalli.

Pralaya Varahanatha Temple(Under Construction)
The temple was under construction. The temple was not that much famous before, after it was telecasted in Tv9- Kannada a lot of devotees from around mysore & mandya where there. This temple is situated on the backwaters of KRS dam.

From there decided to travel back to Bangalore. We stopped at Maddhur Tiffani's to eat the world famous Maddhur Vada. As we were hungry decided to have lunch in a dhabha. We stopped at Good Food dhabha. It was a very good non-stop Journey till Nagarabhavi Circle but from there had to face the Bangalore traffic & traffic signals. Also it started to rain heavily. We reached home at 9.30 PM..

It was a very good one day picnic..Even though there are many trains & Buses to Pandavapura. But to reach Kallahalli using public transport is a bit difficult... So better to go by own vehicle..

Route 1:
Reach Pandavapura ask for aaratiukkada from there bannangaadi from here, ask for ballenahalli.
after half a kilometer, u reach machagonahalli here, u take turn to left, u will reach ganjigere in about 6 km, ask for varahanatha temple 1 & 1/2 kms away..

Route 2:
From Pandavapura, ask for chinakurali , go to bookinakere, ask for ganjigere and from there to kallahalli.
both are of almost the same distance, though first route is preferable..
